Your Self-Image Determines Your Behavior = You need to allow yourself to see yourself well. Own Your Actions = The second way to parent with purpose is to teach responsibility. We all need to learn to take ownership of our mistakes or actions and not place blame on others. Instead of saying “sorry,” say “I’m sorry.” Teach your children to be responsible and take ownership. When we teach responsibility to our children, it leads to their development into mature adults.
There is No Connection Between Excuses and Success
Own Your Mistakes = In this week's Book Of The Week, Sometimes You Win, Sometimes You Learn, John Maxwell talks about responsibility, which is one of the vital things that allows us to learn from our losses. If you don’t take responsibility for your mistakes, mess-ups, and losses, you will never fix them and improve yourself. It is easier to go from failure to success than to go from excuses to success. The only way to eliminate excuses is to take responsibility.
Take Responsibility for Your Actions = People love to be empowered, but need to embrace the responsibility. When you are empowered to do things in life, the key is to take responsibility for it and follow through—whether that is taking responsibility for failure, or being the one to acknowledge its successes. Be responsible every time.
Always Take Responsibility = It is important for all people to have a sense of responsibility or to take ownership of their life. You will never do well in life until you take responsibility for your life—for your choices, for who you are, for what you do, for your actions. Take responsibility for the things that happen to you.
