Parenting with Purpose (5-part Series)

Your Advantage When Times are Tough | MWM
#Attitude Is The Difference Maker = This week, John Maxwell will share 5 important things to teach your children when parenting with purpose. Parenting with purpose is about leading your children correctly without overcorrecting them. The first focus is attitude. It is important to stress the importance of a good attitude with your children. People with good attitudes—who have a positive attitude during negative times—will do better in life. Life is tough! People who want to succeed should have an attitude of tenacity to overcome life’s difficulties!

#Responsible Kids Become Mature Adults | MWM
Take Ownership = The second way to parent with purpose is to teach responsibility. We all need to learn to take ownership of our mistakes or actions and not place blame on others. Instead of saying “sorry,” say “I’m sorry.” Teach your children to be responsible and take ownership. When we teach responsibility to our children, it leads to their development into mature adults.

People Make Your Potential Possible | MWM
Connect With People = The third way to parent with purpose is to focus on relationships and the ability to get along with people. It is important to be good at connecting and relating to other people because the world is composed of people. This ability determines how much others like you and help you. Teach your children how to connect and relate with other people. Relationships are a key to success.

The One Thing That Determines Everything Else | MWM
Discover Your Strengths = You can parent with purpose by helping your child with their self-image. Self-image determines the friends someone hangs around with and even who they marry. The way a person sees others is influenced by how they see themselves. Having a low self-image can hold a person back because they can’t see themselves accomplishing a difficult, worthwhile goal. Help your kids see themselves well, and discover their own strengths. When they pursue those strengths to achieve and experience their own wins, it will build up their self-image.

As parents we have to be an example of this. Share with your children what God is doing in your life and how he leads you.
