Appreciate The Power Of Partnership = Partnerships, or work connections, can be rewarding and humbling. True partnership is one of the greatest gifts one could give you. Don’t Attach A Person’s Ideas To Their Motives = Great leaders are able to partner with people they disagree with. Disagreeing with someone is not the same as someone having a disagreeable character. There is a significant difference between believing the other side’s ideas are wrong and believing the other side’s motives are wrong. Disagreeing in a partnership is not a problem, but can be a strength if you learn how to work together. Leveraging differences as strengths in a partnership can strengthen you, your team, and your perspective.

Partnerships are a great way for leaders to expand beyond their own limitations. When you partner with someone, you acquire their potential in addition to your own. Together, you have the ability to conquer new ground and increase your influence.


Building alliances is paramount to accomplishing much—working well together to increase effectiveness and return. If you have small goals and want to accomplish very little, go it alone. Helen Keller, born in 1880, was only 19 months old when she lost both her sight and her hearing. She likened her early years to being “at sea in a dense fog,” but everything changed on March 5, 1887, when Anne Sullivan arrived at her door. Sullivan, who was herself partially blind, was 20 years old when she was hired to teach Keller language, including reading and writing. The two women became lifelong friends and companions. With Sullivan at her side, Keller went on to write 14 books and hundreds of essays. She toured the world and became an acclaimed speaker, advocating for disability rights and many other causes throughout her life.
