Reflection Turns Experience into Insight | MWM
Be A Sustained Thinker = The third growth practice is to think daily and apply what you have learned. Evaluated experience is the best teacher. Reflection turns experience into insight. After a new experience, ask yourself “What did I love? What did I learn?” and you will grow. Sustained thinkers look for a better, bigger, deeper answer.

Good Thoughts Shared Become Great Thoughts

Share Your Thoughts With Others = In John Maxwell’s book, How Successful People Think, he discusses 11 thinking patterns that successful people engage in that unsuccessful people do not. One of these thinking patterns is Shared Thinking.
Successful people share ideas and thoughts with the people around them and request feedback. When you share with others, there is an energy that births other thoughts. A great thought is not birthed in a vacuum. Great thinking is a result of sharing thoughts and ideas with others. John says “Some of my best thinking has been done by others.” Do you share your thoughts, and allow others the opportunity to make them better?

Good Thoughts Shared Become Great Thoughts
What Kind Of Thinker Are You?= John Maxwell’s book, How Successful People Think, has helped millions of people. Watch as John discusses the inspiration behind the book and how his father discovered from a young age the incredible power of thinking.
The greatest gap between successful and unsuccessful people is the thinking gap. Successful people think differently, which controls their behavior and determines the direction of their lives.

What Big-Picture Thinking Can Do For You

Sustained Thinking is Strong Thinking
https://youtu.be/ERsX3PrJt24
Do You Sit With Your Thoughts And Ideas? = In John Maxwell’s book, How Successful People Think, he discusses 11 thinking patterns that successful people engage in, that unsuccessful people do not. One of these thinking patterns is Sustained Thinking.
Sustained thinking is the ability to take a thought and stay with it longer than people typically do. If you take a fleeting thought, and sit with it for a long while, it has the potential to mature and become a great thought.
Your first thought is not going to be a great thought. Stick with it! Sustain your thought, and it will become better and may even mature into a great thought. Do you sit with your thoughts and ideas long enough?

Reflect and Think = Think daily to apply what you learn in life. Reflection turns experience into insight. By spending time thinking and reflecting on what you learn and experience, you can extract from that experience and reflect on your personal growth.

Thoughtful | MWM

Way Above Average = What makes someone thoughtful? A person who maximizes their words and actions. The first step to thoughtfulness is thinking about others.
Thoughtfulness Is An Asset In Life = A thoughtful person is one who spends their time maximizing their words and actions. This type of person's words and actions weigh more than others because they have taken the time to think about others before taking action. So quit thinking about yourself and become a person of significance—a person of thoughtfulness.
Thoughtfulness is the stepping stone to making an impact = A thoughtful person spends their time maximizing their words and their actions. Their words weigh more than average words. Their actions weigh more than average words. When they take action, it has a great impact, and even greater return. They are considered wise and considerate. The example they set is above average. But why? Because they quit thinking of themselves and put others first, and they were able to become a person of significance.

CHOOSE THOUGHTS THAT STRENGTHEN YOU | MWM
Choose Thoughts That Strengthen You = Choose thoughts that strengthen you—we often don’t notice the things we tell ourselves, but those thoughts shape how we act. When your thoughts build you up, you feel more confident and capable; when they tear you down, you feel stuck and unsure. So let go of the thoughts that make you weak, and hold on to the ones that help you grow.

Good Thoughts Shared Become Great Thoughts | MWM

The most frequent word in the Old Testament (מחשׁבת, maḥăshebheth, from the verb חשׁב, ḥāshabh, “to think”) refers to a “device,” or a purpose firmly fixed, as in the passage in Isa (55:7-9) where the “thought” of God and of man are contrasted (compare Psa_40:5; Psa_92:5; Jer_29:11). In the New Testament διαλογισμός, dialogismós (Mat_15:19; 1Co_3:20), refers to the inner reasoning or deliberation of one with himself.

It is so important to be aware of your thoughts—and to take control of them. Your thoughts can literally make or break you; they shape who you become! Thoughts are incredibly powerful! So, while leaders are drawn to taking action—and that’s great, and that is necessary — that action would be so much more effective if they first learned how to spend some time thinking. Take some time today to simply think.

    Three Components of Cultivating Culture

What’s the most valuable asset to your organization? It’s the people, hands down. People are the driving force behind your organization’s success, which is why it’s so important to have a healthy culture. Culture is all about the people. In this lesson, John teaches that the culture is made up of the people and of the messages they receive from their leader. Today, John is going to talk about the three ways that those messages are received from the leader to the employee so that you can better understand, as a leader, how to cultivate a culture that will make both the business and the people thrive.
During the application portion of the episode, Mark Cole and Traci Morrow join forces to dive into John’s lesson and discuss the cultures they are building within their own families and within the John Maxwell Enterprise. If you want to cultivate a healthy, thriving culture within your business, you definitely don’t want to miss this episode.
Our BONUS resource for this episode is the “Three Components of Cultivating Culture Worksheet,” which includes fill-in-the-blank notes from John’s teaching. You can download the worksheet by visiting MaxwellPodcast.com/Culture and clicking “Download the Bonus Resource.”

The Power of Connection | MWM
Leading With Connection = People don’t know how much you know until they know how much you care. Good communication starts with connection, not content. People buy into the message long before they buy into the communication. If they don’t feel you, they won’t follow you. The heart comes before the head in communication—connection opens the door that content can then walk through.

Speak to Be Heard — Connect to Be Remembered | MWM
Everyone talks, but not everyone connects. The ability to connect gives you a tremendous inside and upside to influencing people. Communication is the key to influencing people and being remembered.

Connection Opens the Door | MWM
Share Information With Others = People often don't feel included or part of a team until you share information with them. They are often down on what they are not up on. They are negative about things they don't know or understand because they haven't had the time to think about it. It is important to have an understanding with others that you will share and connect so that there isn't a misunderstanding.

    MWM | Connection
Connection is More Important Now Than It Has Ever Been = In the world of leadership in today's landscape, connection is more important than it has ever been. The difference between feeling remote and feeling isolated, is connection. And the answer is not to be remote and isolated, the answer is to be remote and connected. So, who on your team do you feel connected to?

Why Leaders Must Pursue Connection Over Correction | MWM
Before You Correct, You Must Connect = Before you correct, you must connect. Connection creates a foundation of trust making even the most tough conversations more constructive. When you take the time to connect first you make people feel seen and valued. Correction without connection often leads to resistance from your team members, so it is important to connect with others first.

Are You Open to Learning from Others? | MWM
Be Open To Learning From Others = Connect with like-minded people. Doing this can accelerate your personal and professional growth, providing support, inspiration, and opportunities for collaboration. Leaders must actively seek and nurture these relationships and should also ask this question: “Who do you know that I should know?”

If You Stop Loving Your People, Stop Leading Them | MWM
Lead With Heart = In his book, The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership, John Maxwell discusses the Law of Connection, which says that leaders touch a heart before they ask for a hand. It isn’t just what you know that makes a great leader, but how much you care. Good leaders desire to make a positive difference in peoples’ lives.

Get to Know Someone Just Because
Walk Slowly Through The Crowd = Relational leaders love connecting with others. It is important to slow down and connect with people even when it isn’t required or beneficial to your success. Find someone that you don’t have to connect with in order to be successful in your job, and take time to get to know them. When you do this, you begin to develop your muscle of connection and become better at connecting with the people you have been called to lead.

Do You Add Value or Take it Away? | MWM
Connect With Others = Relationships—how we connect with others—are key in our success. Relationships have the power to resolve the negatives in our lives. Are you a plus or a minus? Do you add value to others or take value away? If you want to do well with people, add value to them. That is what relationships are all about.

5 Pillars of Success and 1 Thing That Connects Them | MWM

Caring for Others Paves the Way for Connection
Caring Leads To Connection = Everyone has something to say but few listen and truly connect. The key to connecting to people is caring for others. People do not care how much you know until they know how much you care. Allow caring for others to pave the way for your connection to the people around you.

    Less Direction and More Connection
Are the people around you silent? It may very well be because you are not listening to what they have to say. When you are listening, you are the silent one—you are asking questions, but then you are quiet awaiting an answer. And it is then that you will discover how much those around you have to say, to contribute. You just need to hear them out!

How to Connect with Anyone, At Any Time
It’s All About Others = Communicators know it is all about others. Connection comes with the realization that it is about others, and not yourself. Do you need to get over yourself?

What Do You Need to Say That Can Only Be Said One-on-One?
Lead Well And Connect With Others One-On-One = Spending time with someone in a one-on-one environment allows for deep meaningful connection where you can resolve or address important issues.  When an issue is addressed in a group environment it can lead to a disconnect from the individual you want to impact. Connection, most often, is best accomplished one-on-one, whether it is to correct someone or praise someone.

Get Over Yourself = Communicators know that it is all about others. The two ways to connect with others are … One, find common ground and … Two, get over yourself. Implementing these two things will change and lift your communication with your audience.

Are You a Climber or a Connector
Self-aware leaders prioritize their team's well-being over their personal career advancement. These leaders are advocates for the individuals on their team, focusing on collaboration rather than extracting benefits from their team members.

Question and Connect = Talking without connecting is a waste of words. Asking questions is key! It is a leader’s responsibility to meet their people where they’re at, ask the right questions and truly listen to the answers. Only then can you really start connecting with your people; and only then will your words truly matter.

    Connectors Connect on Common Ground
Chris Goede and Perry Holley explore the concept of finding common ground to connect with others. They discuss the barriers that prevent leaders from effectively connecting, like assumptions, arrogance, and indifference, and provide strategies for overcoming these obstacles. Chris Goede and Perry Holley share personal stories that illustrate the power of genuine curiosity and the importance of focusing on the other person in a conversation. The hosts also remind listeners that building authentic connections requires time, intentionality, and a willingness to be open and adaptable. Learn practical tips for finding common ground and strengthening your ability to connect with and influence others.
