Be Real, but be Kind | MWM
See The Best In Others And Yourself = It is easy to be a realist, but can you be a dreamer or a visionary? We should look at others and see them as their best. This doesn’t mean we are pretending that things are better than they actually are, but instead, we are helping to change things into what they can become.  If you see people as they are, you make them worse, but if you see them as they could be, you help them become all that they can be.

Build A Successful Life With Reality = The first principle of solving problems is to face reality. Reality is the foundation for problem-solving. Once you accept what is actually going on—and you don’t ignore or rationalize it—you can move forward with a solution.

Are You Relying on Things You Can Control?
Is It Within Your Control? = The third question from John Maxwell’s book, Put Your Dream To The Test, deals with reality … Are you depending on factors within your control to reach your dream? If you have a big dream, you need a solid foundation based on reality. When the factors that will help you accomplish your dream are inside your control and align with your strengths and gifts, you are more likely to reach your dream.

Look At Reality = The reason we don't like problems is that they force us to look at ourselves and others—some problems we cause, and some fall onto us. It is important to look at reality, look at the problem for what it is and don't try to change it, and then deal with. Reality is the foundation for solving problems and being able to live a successful life.

Go Far, Not Fast = Before you set out to achieve greatness, you need to have a firm grasp on reality. Leaders need to appreciate their reality. You cannot determine where you want to go and how you’re going to get there until you know exactly where you are. Don’t fight reality; instead, embrace it. It can be your ally, your foundation, your starting ground—the very cornerstone of your dream.

Scriptures
Ecclesiastes 7:18 (MSG) It’s best to stay in touch with both sides of an issue. A person who fears God deals responsibly with all of reality, not just a piece of it.
1 Corinthians 2:14 ESV The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.
Colossians 2:17 For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality.
Colossians 2:17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.
Hebrews 10:1 - For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.
Hebrews 4:12 ESV For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Philippians 4:8 ESV Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
1 John 5:14-15 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

Get Through The Problems | MWM
https://youtu.be/90JDsE0SzpQ

You Will Have Problems — But Will You Solve Them? | MWM
Problem Solve Your Way To The Top = Everyone has problems, but not everyone deals with them in the right way. How do you handle problems? When you are able to solve problems and help others solve problems, it allows you to move forward toward success.

FACE REALITY
See Things as They Are | MWM
Build A Successful Life With Reality = The first principle of solving problems is to face reality. Reality is the foundation for problem-solving. Once you accept what is actually going on—and you don’t ignore or rationalize it—you can move forward with a solution.
#Problems #Solution #Solved
Reality Is The Foundation To Success = Facing reality is the foundation to living a successful life. All of us are going to be faced with different problems and challenges in life, but the key to solving problems is to look at reality in order to find a solution.

The Secret to Solving Problems is Asking for Help | MWM
https://youtu.be/RO_CuVue0fQ
Be Open, Authentic, And Honest = The second principle of problem-solving is asking for help. None of us are as smart as all of us. When you ask others for help, who aren’t emotionally involved in your problem, you allow your problem to be seen objectively. This doesn’t diminish yourself in other’s eyes, it only diminishes the problem
#Help

Don’t Add to the Problem | MWM
Simplify, Don’t Complicate = The third principle of problem-solving is don’t add to the problem. Don’t make your problem bigger. Don’t allow it to snowball into a larger issue. Look at your problem, simplify it, and break it down into manageable parts—without adding more complexity. Fix the problem you have before you deal with your next issue.
Don't Add To Your Problems, Simplify Them = When dealing with problems, don’t add to the problem. Instead of complicating a problem, reduce and simplify it, break it down into manageable parts, and fix the current problem before moving on to the next problem.

It’s Not the Size of Your Problem; It’s the Momentum You Come at it With | MWM
Managers Solve Problems, Leaders Create Momentum = The fourth principle of problem solving is to create momentum. Momentum can solve most problems. It builds energy and exaggerates things in a positive way that can carry you through a problem. It isn’t the size of your problem that is the issue, but the level of your momentum. The more you increase momentum, the more you can solve problems.
Create Momentum, Solve Problems! = In life, it's not the size of your problem that determines if you can solve it or not, it's the momentum you come at it with that helps you solve it. Momentum solves problems. When you have a problem, one of the best ways to make it disappear is to create momentum. Momentum has energy and exaggerates things in a positive way. Create momentum, solve problems.
#Momentum #Obstacles #Problems #Solutions

The Key to Tenacious Problem-Solving | MWM
Believe There Is Always An Answer = The fifth principle of problem solving is believing that there is always an answer. If you don’t believe there is an answer to a problem you have, it can cause you to lose focus. You may ignore or run from your problem. When you focus on the answer and not the problem, it helps you develop a tenacious spirit to stay with the problem longer, looking for the answer. With this focus the problem will eventually go away. Don’t be overwhelmed by your problems, be grateful there are answers, and anticipate finding those answers. It will make you a better person.
All Problems Have An Answer = When you are faced with a problem, always believe that there is an answer. Most go to the worst and think problems do not have an answer, but there is always a way to solve the problem. When you know there is an answer, you will look for the answer. And when you focus on the answer and not the problem, the problem will go away.
#Tenacious

You Only Lose if You Don’t Learn | MWM
Learn From Your Problems = The sixth principle of problem solving is believing there is always a lesson in every problem. If you approach a problem correctly, it can make you better and lift you up. When we fail, we only lose if we don't learn. Next time you have a problem, find out what the lesson is and apply it to your life.
Believe That There Is Always A Lesson = When you face any problem, believe that there is always a lesson. If you approach a problem correctly, it can make you better and lift you up. A problem is only a problem if you don’t learn something from it. So continue to find the lesson and learn from it.
#learn

Problems Will Improve You If You Let Them | MWM
Problems Create Opportunities = The seventh principle of problem-solving is believing there is always an opportunity. All problems create opportunities when you have the right attitude. If you look at a problem correctly, there is always an answer, always a lesson, and always an opportunity.
Every Problem Is An Opportunity = If you want to do good things with the problems you experience, you have to believe that every problem is an opportunity. And when you look at a problem correctly, there is always an answer. In life, and in leadership, sometimes a problem isn’t a problem, it is an opportunity for change.

Be A Problem Solver = Problems are everywhere, and we are all going to come across a problem of some sort each day. Everyone has problems, but very few want to solve them or deal with them. The issue isn't the problem itself, it's whether or not we are going to solve it. Be a problem solver.

 https://youtu.be/Hnv12SvrzKY
Look At Reality = The reason we don't like problems is that they force us to look at ourselves and others—some problems we cause, and some fall onto us. It is important to look at reality, look at the problem for what it is and don't try to change it, and then deal with. Reality is the foundation for solving problems and being able to live a successful life.

https://youtu.be/iFjxfzdsBjE
Don't Be Afraid To Ask For Help = When dealing with problems, ask for help. Asking for help often feels like a weakness, and it is hard to admit to yourself that you don't have the experience, the wisdom, or the resources to solve a problem. However, asking for help doesn't diminish yourself, it diminishes the problem, and allows you to let others into your life.

Don't Add To The Problem = Don't add to the problem, solve it, and simplify it. Keep your problems very simple, break them down into manageable parts, and deal with the one you have in the moment before moving on to the next one.

Add Momentum to Solve Problems = When you have a problem, one of the best ways to make it disappear, is to have momentum and solve it. Momentum has energy and exaggerates things in a positive way. Momentum carries you through the problem. It's not the size of the problem that is the issue, it's the size of your momentum.

There Is Always An Answer = Always believe that there is an answer. There is nothing good about a problem if you don't think there is an answer, but if you believe there is an answer, you will look for it. When you focus on the answer and not the problem, you will be less overwhelmed and more grateful that there is a solution to the problem.

Lessons Learned From Our Problems = There is a lesson in every problem. If you approach your problems correctly, they can make you better and lift you up. The key to knowing if your problem was successful is to ask yourself what you learned—what was the lesson. The lessons learned from each problem we face help make us better people.

Every Problem Is An Opportunity In Disguise = Every problem that comes to you has an opportunity. Even if you don't see it initially, each problem has a unique solution and opportunity, and has the potential to help you grow as a leader.

Expectation Quotes

Quotes About Expectations

  • Don't lower your expectations to meet your performance. Raise your level of performance to meet your expectations. Expect thet best of yourself, and then do what is necessary to make it a reality. Ralph Marston
  • Rely on the ordinary virtues that intelligent, balanced human beings have relied on for centuries: common sense, thrift, realistic expectations, patience, and perseverance. John C. Bogle (1929-) American Investor
  • Too many people miss the silver lining because they're expecting gold. Maurice Setter
  • When you expect things to happen, strangely enough, they do happen.
  • You have to expect things of yourself before you can do them. Michael Jordan
  • Other people may not have had high expectations for me... but I had high expectations for myself. Shannon Miller

================
EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED | MWM
Expect the unexpected and be ready to handle it—that's a key part of being resilient. We often make plans and think everything will go smoothly from start to finish, but life doesn't always work that way. Challenges, setbacks, and even surprise opportunities can throw us off track. Being prepared is what helps us stay strong and adapt when things don’t go as planned.

Expectation is a Powerful Force | MWM
Expectation Is A Powerful Force = Our expectations—what we believe is going to happen in the future—are grounded in our beliefs. Our expectations don't only affect us, they can affect others as well. Expectation is a very powerful thing. If people expect great things from us, we lean into that, and we become better people because of it.

================

Be Upfront with Your Expectations | MWM
Share Your Expectations Upfront = It is important to have upfront expectations. As a leader and a friend, lay out the issues at the beginning of a relationship. Don’t wait until the “ideal moment.” Then you can build and develop a good relationship where no one feels manipulated or blindsided. The longer you withhold your expectations from people, the harder it is for those expectations to be a reality in their life.
Be Upfront With Your Expectations = Always be upfront with your expectations. The longer you withhold the expectations of others, the harder it is for those expectations to become a reality in their life. Lay out all of the issues at the beginning, and then you can build on those and develop a relationship.

The Goal is More Important Than the Role | MWM
It’s About The Whole = The first upfront expectation is that it is not about you or me, but it is always about the big picture. It is about what is best for the organization or the whole. The goal is more important than the role, and the vision of the organization is more important than one piece of that vision.
You Always Need To Look At The Big Picture = In all aspects of life and leadership, you always need to look at the big picture and what is best for the whole. The idea that it is not about you, and not about me, but instead, always about the big picture needs to remain the leading idea. You will always experience moments where you don’t fully agree with a decision and are left disappointed, but the final choice is always about what is best for the whole in order to meet the goal.

====================

Practice + High Expectations = Mastery
https://youtu.be/dsQkTRU8-i4
Are You Motivated By Mastery? = In his book, The Leader’s Greatest Return, John Maxwell discusses what motivates people and how it is important to sit down with your team and learn what motivates them. Mastery is one of the 7 motivations he discusses. A person who is motivated by mastery loves to do things extremely well and exceed expectations. To become a person of mastery, don’t try to master everything, but focus on the one thing that would really benefit your life. When you discover that thing, practice every day, have high expectations, and give 100%.

Have High Expectations = When you can’t wait to deliver a message, the audience can’t wait to hear it. People can tell when a speaker loves what they talk about. Next time you prepare a lesson and get ready to teach, feel good about it, believe the best about it, have high expectations, and anticipate that it will be the best message you have ever given … and it will help you help people.

UPFRONT EXPECTATIONS
Lay Out Expectations From The Beginning = UPFRONT EXPECTATIONS = It is important to have upfront expectations—because the longer you wait, the worse it becomes. Be sure to lay out all the issues and needs in the beginning, and then build upon those to develop a good relationship with others. The longer you withhold expectations of people that they need to know and meet, the harder it is for those expectations to become a reality in their life.

https://youtu.be/YNBP6CPcZ4U
Focus On The Big Picture = It's not about you, it's not about me, it's always about the big picture. It's always about what's best for the whole, and the goal is more important than the role. Always look towards the big picture.

https://youtu.be/nfALDYKtrJ8
Grow Together = Growth is expected, it's not an option. The only guarantee that you will have a better future—in life, on a team, and as part of an organization—is if you are growing. The only way that you can go together, is if you grow together. Growth is expected in everything you do.

Always Value Others = It is important to value people, because people are valuable. When you value people, you add value to them. The more you value others, the more you add value to them, and the more you add value to the world.

Take Responsibility of Your Actions = People love to be empowered, but need to embrace the responsibility. When you are empowered to do things in life, the key is to take responsibility for it and follow through—whether that is taking responsibility for failure, or being the one to acknowledge its successes. Be responsible every time.

Have The Tough Conversations = There will be tough conversations in life. When you are dealing with people, there will always be positive and negative conversations about life's situations—the tough conversations are what it is all about and whether we deal with them or ignore them. The key is to have those tough conversations about situations in life, and always move forward.

Be an Infinite Source of Hope
Be An Infinite Source Of Hope = The leaders that impact us the most are those that have given us the most hope for our potential. Good leaders deal out hope. There is still a chance—an opportunity to make a difference. Don’t give up, there is hope. Let’s build a better future together.

Hope is Necessary for Vision
Stay Hopeful = People who have vision are hopeful and anticipate what is possible. Hope is necessary in order to have a clear and compelling vision. Sometimes it takes courage to stay hopeful. Make the decision today, to believe that something more and better is possible. Maintain hope, reach for your goals, and be willing to risk disappointment to stay hopeful. Hope is the key to discovering the meaningful, exciting vision that is meant for you.

HOPE | MWM
Be The Hope = People want a bright future, so give them hope. Whoever you come into contact with, you want to be able to express to them something positive that is in their life or that can happen in their life. We see what we look for—so help people look for hope.
Give Everyone Hope = People want a bright future, so give them hope. Whoever you come into contact with, you want to be able to express something positive to them that is in their life or that can happen in their life. We all want hope, so it is important to have positive expectations that things will always be better.

Scriptures
1 Corinthians 13:13 (MSG) But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.
1 John 3:3 - And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.
1 Peter 1:9 The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.
1 Peter 3:15 - but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,
2 John 12 - Though I have much to write to you, I would rather not use paper and ink. Instead I hope to come to you and talk face to face, so that our joy may be complete.
3 John 14 - I hope to see you soon, and we will talk face to face.
Ephesians 1:18 NLT - 18 I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called--his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.
Ephesians 2:12 NLT - 12 In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope.
Ephesians 4:4 NLT - 4 For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance that what we hope for will come about and the certainty that what we cannot see exists.
